Groves’ iconic Homecoming night is quickly approaching. While Groves students prepare for a “night to remember,” common anxiety amongst the students is determining the best footwear: heels or sneakers.

When Groves girls make the important decision of foot attire, most will consider two factors: comfort and style. Many will struggle to decide which is more important to them on their special night.

Many girls want to wear heeled shoes. A high-heeled shoe symbolizes elegance, and it will be sure to elevate your homecoming look and take it to the next level. It is proven by solecase.com that when wearing high-heeled shoes, people are more likely to have a sense of confidence— and confidence is certainly key on the night of Homecoming.

However, people love to wear sneakers for the comfort factor. Having a comfortable sneaker has become an increasingly popular trend in today’s day in age. Wearing a sneaker with a dress has not only been seen as trendy but will also make for a perfect shoe to “dance the night away” in. Sophomore Gianna Stea said she will be whipping out her “best sneakers” the night of homecoming.

“I want to enjoy the night in gym shoes,” Stea said. When your feet feel comfortable, not only will you be more relaxed, but have a more pleasant experience at the dance.

Lucky for you, as a senior at Groves, I have a lot of experience attending dances. This Homecoming dance will be my fifth Groves dance to attend and I am certain I have found the perfect solution for you to be both comfortable and stylish come Homecoming night. You don’t have to choose— you can achieve being both comfortable and stylish by wearing a heel for all of your pre-dance photographs and changing into your new kicks before entering the gymnasium. Senior Lilia Chung has also reflected and decided the heel-sneaker change is the best way to go.

“Pack an extra bag with a change of shoes for the dance,” Chung said.

This way you will achieve the gracefulness of an elevated heel look without the pains in your toes causing you to miss out on the pleasure of dance night.

I am excited to see all of this year’s heels and sneakers at the dance, and I’m preparing for all the incredible looks on the red carpet. No matter what shoes you decide to wear, I know you will rock them!
