With the tennis season underway and the team’s first few matches already completed, the Groves tennis team is looking strong this year. Early performances suggest the team could have a successful season ahead.
“Our first match, we did very well, and I think we will most likely do pretty well this year,” senior Chloe Nemeth said.
The team doesn’t just bond on the court; players also find ways to connect off it. Spending time together outside matches has helped strengthen relationships and improve team chemistry.
“My favorite part of the year is hanging out with my friends, going out for ice cream and going to team dinners,” Nemeth said.
Other team members share Nemeth’s confidence in the season. Hayden Taylor said, “I think we are doing very well this season so far.”
First-year player April Krot also feels confident about the team’s performance and how the season has started.
“I think the team’s doing good. We’ve all been practicing a lot and doing well during matches,” Krot said.
Krot also reflected on her first varsity match, describing it as a positive experience.
“My first match, I think my partner and I did well. We were able to get through it, especially for our first time on varsity,” she said.
Kaylee Bryant shared similar confidence, saying she and her doubles partner are doing “very well this season.” She added, “I believe we will do very well for the rest of the season,” highlighting the team’s overall confidence.
Overall, tennis has brought the team closer together. Many players said their favorite moments come from spending time together both during practice and outside of school, building strong connections as teammates and friends.
As the season continues, the Groves tennis team remains confident and excited, hoping to carry this positive energy throughout the rest of the year. They are set to go to Regionals this week.
