Are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce dating?
That’s the question that has practically the entire world freaking out, and as crazy as it may seem, this rumored budding romance has both NFL fans and Swifities united for probably the first and only time in history.
Ever since Swift appeared in Kelce’s box at the Kansas City Chiefs’ game on Sept. 24, the NFL star has gained a lot more attention. So far, his jersey has reached a 200 percent increase in sales, per ESPN. Plus, the ticket prices for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. The New York Jets this past Sunday jumped after reports that Swift would be there. Since being linked to Kelce, Swift’s ongoing support for her alleged beau and for pro football has brought a significant economic boost to the NFL. So it is true that where Taylor goes, money follows.
The NFL has been the biggest supporter of this new star-studded relationship, adding “Taylor was here” to their TikTok bio and “Taylor’s Version” to the name of their X account. They even created a commercial with one of her most famous songs, “Welcome to New York”, in the background for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Jets game. The NFL’s social media accounts’ praise for Swift has created a positive atmosphere around their relationship. After all, Taylor Swift dating an NFL player is a marketing and social media team’s dream.
So if you think Kelce is truly more of a “Mastermind” than Swift, you might not be wrong, due to all of the dominoes that have cascaded in his favor.
It all started in July, when Kelce went to one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City— the same stadium where his team plays home games. At the show, Kelce brought a friendship bracelet with his phone number, which he intended to give it to Swift but failed to do so.Trading friendship bracelets has become a fun activity for many Swifties at the Eras Tour, and Kelce wanted to join in on the fun. The bracelets are usually very colorful and most have the names of Swift’s songs or album titles on them!
Soon after this bracelet trade did not occur, Kelce brought up this so-called attempt on his podcast, “New Heights”, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason. Jason is the center for the Philadelphia Eagles— Taylor’s home team.
Fast forward! This public declaration eventually led to Swift accepting Kelce’s invitation to watch him play at Arrowhead Stadium. Being no stranger to football stadiums, Swift has played in numerous NFL stadiums across the country as a part of her many tours.
In fact, Swift happened to be in Kansas City on her “Speak Now” world tour on Sept. 24 2011. Which happens to be exactly 12 years ago to the date that Swift appeared at Arrowhead Stadium to watch Kelce this year. It makes you wonder if there has always been an ‘Invisible String”.
And as for the future of this “it couple”, we’ll have to sit back and watch how this will play out.
