On September 27, 2025, the University of Michigan’s Stadium, known as “The Big House,” became a historical event; Zach Bryan would be the first-ever artist to perform a concert there, making it the biggest concert
For those who don’t know, Zach Bryan is a country music artist who began singing on YouTube while he was in the U.S Navy. During this time in 2019, he released his debut album “Deanne”. He later received an honorable discharge to pursue a full-time music career due to the album’s success. He began to grow a large fan base, which eventually got him to where no one has been before— a sold-out show at the Michigan Big House.
The atmosphere at the big house was electric due to the anticipation of this event; it was like nothing I had seen before. Every inch of the stadium was filled with people of all ages who had come together to watch someone live out their dream. John Mayer opened for him, which in itself was something that struck admiration in me. At 9:20 pm, Zach Bryan finally took the stage, playing “Mr. Brightside”(which is a Michigan staple) as his entrance song. At that moment, everyone knew this would be a night to remember.
As he strung his guitar to the first notes of his song “Overtime,” the crowd went insane, the place was vibrating, and it almost didn’t feel real. Throughout the show, he continued to amaze people by bringing John Mayer back out to sing the song “Better Days”, which they sang together, and then covering a song by the Grateful Dead called “Friend of the Devil”. He also brought out War and Treaty to sing their song “Hey Driver”.
These were special moments for people, as being able to hear your favorite songs live is an out-of-body and euphoric experience. His concert ended with a 25-minute-long version of his song “Revival”. Everyone in that stadium knew how special it was. We got to be a part of history, and that is something we will never forget.
